The destruction followed his wife's request for a divorce. His wife and two children were inside the house at the time.

Eric Pierwsza, 48, of Butler County, Pennsylvania, faces formal charges of causing a catastrophe, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct after operating an excavator to demolish his family home on May 28, CBS News reported.

According to the police report, Pierwsza returned home from drinking, argued with his wife, and was informed she wanted a divorce. He told her, "If it's over, I'll tear the house down," and proceeded to do so. His wife and two children were inside the home. Sounds of structural destruction can be heard on the subsequent 911 call.

No one was injured. Pierwsza re-entered the partially demolished structure to retrieve a gym bag before fleeing, and was apprehended in a nearby township. His wife has filed for a protection-from-abuse order. The house will likely need to be demolished. Investigators believe the marriage has suffered structural damage. The house keys have not been recovered.
