U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has authorized the partial restoration of Claude Mythos 5 — the most capable AI model ever developed by Anthropic — to a list of approximately 100 organizations identified as "Annex A," comprising critical-infrastructure firms, national laboratories, and federal civilian agencies. In his letter to Anthropic's chief compute officer, Lutnick wrote that "appropriate safeguards are in place to permit certain trusted partners" to access the model.

The companion model, Claude Fable 5, remains globally suspended seventeen days after launch. Foreign nationals, including non-U.S. employees of Anthropic itself, retain no access to either model.

Lutnick reserves the right to reevaluate the list. The list is not public.
