A United States Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopter crashed into the sea near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday evening. Both crew members survived. They were rescued approximately two hours later by an unmanned surface vessel, marking the first time in US military history that a sea drone has performed a rescue operation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Analysts have not ruled out Iranian fire, mechanical failure, or the general condition of the airspace above a region where two countries are simultaneously negotiating peace and bombing each other.

The incident occurred one day after Iran and Israel exchanged strikes. A fragile ceasefire was described as "holding," much like a table with three legs holds — technically standing, but both parties know exactly when and how it will fall and consider it premature to say so publicly.

President Trump confirmed the crew was safe while boarding Air Force One. "The pilots are fine. We are going to issue a reel — I mean, a report tomorrow."

He then expressed optimism over negotiations with Iran, which currently include a naval blockade, an aerial campaign, and the closure of one of the world's most important shipping routes.

The Strait of Hormuz has been largely blocked since February following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. At least 17 merchant ships have been damaged, 12 seafarers killed or missing, and global fuel prices have responded accordingly.

Brothcast Journal correspondent Kevin Dunnehey noted that the drone located, reached, and extracted two humans from open water in under two hours without receiving orders from a chain of command, requesting authorization, or consulting an ally. Editorial staff responded by gluing his trousers to his chair and watching him struggle for several minutes in what witnesses described as resembling a cat chasing a laser pointer. Management cited a recurring violation of the publication's policy against insight.
